VerumGen at MSS 2026 in Bled, Slovenia

VerumGen Labs had a full and rewarding two days at MSS 2026 in Bled, Slovenia.

On Day 1, we presented the Universal AAV Standard (UAS), an engineered multi-target reference material designed to help harmonize AAV genome quantification and genome integrity assessment. AAV analytics still lack a common denominator in QC, as labs rely on different primer and probe sets, targets, reference materials, and workflows. UAS lets labs evaluate multiple analytically relevant regions within a single standard, enabling more meaningful comparisons of titer and genome integrity across assays, platforms, and laboratories.

On Day 2, we presented our work on the AE1-BHK cell line as an ethical alternative to HEK293 for AAV production, along with its potential applications in gene therapy. We also presented a collaborative poster with NibaLabs, applying Niba’s four target multiplex assay approach to UAS. It was valuable to see how UAS performs in a multiplex setting and to explore its potential for genome titer and integrity assessment. Special thanks to Laura Rak and David Dobnik for the excellent collaboration, and to Agathos Biologics for providing the UAS sample.

And of course, Bled itself is beautiful. A morning run around Lake Bled was the perfect start to a day of science and discussion.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to talk, ask questions, and exchange ideas. To learn more about UAS or AE1-BHK, get in touch with us.

PS: No trip to Bled is complete without the famous Bled cream cake, kremšnita. It was the perfect way to end a day by the lake, with Bled Castle lit up in the background.
