VerumGen Labs recently welcomed representatives from the Fargo Moorhead Economic Development Corporation (GFMEDC) for a visit and discussion about the growing bioscience ecosystem in the Fargo–Moorhead region.
The visit provided an opportunity to share VerumGen’s capabilities and to discuss how flexible biotechnology infrastructure can support research and development activities across academia, startups, and established biotechnology companies in the region.
VerumGen operates as a versatile molecular biology laboratory focused on analytical workflows and biotechnology research support. Among other things, the laboratory provides precise DNA and RNA quantification and identification using digital PCR, SNP detection, and related molecular biology techniques. These analytical tools support a wide range of biological research and biotechnology development activities.
During the visit, John Machacek, Ryan Aasheim, and Joey Ness from GFMEDC explored VerumGen’s analytical and laboratory automation capabilities, including discussion around the potential applications of the QIAgility liquid handling system and the QIAcuity digital PCR platform for biotechnology workflows in the region.
In addition to analytical capabilities, VerumGen supports purification workflows for biologics, including proteins, antibodies, and viral vectors, using laboratory-scale purification technologies. Together, these capabilities allow the laboratory to support diverse molecular biology and biotechnology applications.
The laboratory is designed to work with a broad range of biological materials and research areas, including plant science, microbiology, and animal-related research, while maintaining a focused molecular biology and biotechnology research environment.
By providing specialized analytical capabilities and flexible R&D laboratory space, VerumGen is positioned to complement existing biotechnology companies and research institutions in the region. The goal is to contribute to the continued growth of the bioscience sector in Fargo–Moorhead and the broader Midwest.
